Chocolate fondue is the hit of Valentines Day. Chocolate and cozying up to your heartthrob just seem the perfect match. And, you don’t have to have a fondue pot to be successful. It can be made just on low heat on the stove-top. However, if you want to make an investment, you don’t have to spend much for a good and versatile fondue pot that will really last a good long time. Today’s fondue pots are so stylish and are not usually dated by specific colors. I got my chocolate fondue pot on Ebay and it works very well and its just a simple white ceramic pot. If you buy a vintage pot and it doesn’t have all of its dipping forks, you can keep your eyes open at thrift shops or buy some right here from my website.

There are many chocolate fountains out there that you may want to try, too.

Here are a few dipping ideas you may want to try:

Cakes and other sweet things: graham crackers, angel food cake, marshmallows, tiny cookies, tiny brownies, lady fingers, amaretti, shortbread, biscotti, meringues, or crystallized ginger chunks.

Fruits: sliced bananas (grilled + caramelized, even better), pears, peaches, apples, pineapples, citrus sections, dried fruit, strawberries, cherries, blackberries and raspberries.

Infusing: the technique for making chocolate fondue is very straight-forward. Simmer
the heavy cream, then stir chopped chocolate in to the pot over heat. You have the opportunity to infuse an accent flavor into the heavy cream with whatever flavors you can think up- just like when preparing homemade ice-cream. Here are some ideas: spices, espresso powder, herbs, zests, or fruit purees,. For herbs like mint, you may want to strain the leaves from the cream, and reheat the cream before adding the chocolate.

An important hint for your dippers is to keep the ingredients in bite-sized pieces that are about 1-inch square. Plus, use the best quality of chocolate available.

Chocolate Fondue Recipe

1 lb. of semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1 1/2 cups of organic heavy cream

Pour cream into medium, heavy saucepan and warm over low heat. Simmer the cream. Add the chocolate to the cream. Stir constantly until all of the chocolate has melted.
You may want to transfer the mixture into a fondue pot to serve.
